Director, Anne Brewster
With over 25 years of experience in education, Anne is a passionate advocate for early childhood education and the Reggio-Emilia philosophy. Anne holds a BA in French, and a Masters in Education. She began her journey at BHCP as a classroom teacher, earning an Early Childhood Education Masters Certificate in Emergent Inquiry. Anne brings her deep convictions into her leadership role, finding daily joy and purpose in interacting with children, teachers, and our BCHP families.
Program Coordinator, Margaret Moran
Margaret’s joined the BHCP staff in 2012. She has a BA in Russian and French, an MBA and completed an Emergent Inquiry in Early Childhood Masters Certificate. Margaret is excited to bring her experience to her new role as our Program Coordinator, where she will be collaborating with teachers to connect BHCP’s values to practice as well as leading the school’s marketing efforts.
Atelierista, Angela Venier
A former jewelry designer and artist, Angela has a BA in Fine Arts and a Masters in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on Emergent Inquiry Curriculum. Angela has been at BHCP for 13 years. In her role as atelierista, Angela works with children and classroom teachers to facilitate a wide range of material explorations and to support emergent inquiry curriculum and longer-term project work.
Pre-K (Green) Educator, Sylvia Logiewa
Sylvia has over 20 years of teaching experience. She has a BA in Special Education and a Masters Degree in Social Work. Sylvia loves working with young children and is excited to start her journey working in a Reggio-Inspired school and is inspired to learn more about the approach. Born in Poland, Sylvia has lived in Norway, where her daughter attended a forest school.
Pre-K (Green) Educator, Kate Schneider
Kate has over 20 years of teaching experience. She holds a BA in Elementary Education and Psychology and an MA in New Professional Studies. She fell in love with BHCP while touring the school with her twin daughters over 10 years ago. Kate feels like the Reggio approach is a beautiful approach for children to learn about themselves and the world around them. When she’s not volunteering at her daughters’ dance studio, Kate loves to read and do puzzles.
4s Classroom (Blue) Educator, Jacquelyn Kittredge
Jacquelyn has been an early childhood educator for 9 years. A life-long learner, Jacquelyn has degrees in Marketing and MIS, Architecture, a post Baccalaureate in K-12 Math, and a Masters in Early Childhood Education. She has completed two study tours in Reggio Emilia and feels that BHCP embodies all the components of Reggio inspired schools. Plus, she can ride her electric bike to work each day!
4s Classroom (Blue) Educator, Lisa McKenzie
With over 20 years of experience as an early childhood educator, Lisa holds a BA in Psychology and Education and a Masters of Education with a focus on Special Education. Lisa loves the collaborative atmosphere at BHCP and how our Reggio-Inspired program supports children. She is very involved with the VA Scottish Games and the Mid-Atlantic Scottish Athletics associations.
2s & 3s Classroom (Red/Yellow) Educator, Carol Finn
Carol has over 40 years of teaching experience, specializing in ESL, Multicultural Education and Bilingual Education. She has both a Masters in Special Education and Healing Arts. A grandmother to two recent BHCP alums, Carol believes that BHCP’s Reggio-Inspired program allows her to have the opportunity to be with children in an honest and way so that teachers, parents and children can all celebrate the joy of living in a collaborative and supportive environment.
2s & 3s Classroom (Red/Yellow) Educator, Carey Helmick
Carey has 9 years of teaching experience and has 2 BHCP alumni children and a daughter in the Yellow Class. She has her BA in Human Development and Early Childhood Education, with a concentration in the Reggio Emilia philosophy. BHCP holds a special place in her heart, where she feels that she can be in community with the children, parents and her colleagues, and where all community members are treated with dignity and respect.
2s & 3s Classroom (Red/Yellow) Educator, Sarah Roque
Sarah is a classically trained music educator, with a BA in Music and a Masters in Voice Pedagogy. With over 6 years experience teaching a wide range of ages, Sarah has been increasingly drawn to learning more about the Reggio Approach to Early Childhood. Her pedagogical philosophy is to find different methods to support different learning styles and to trust children – allowing herself to learn from them.
Support & Explorers Educator, Shiloh Roehl
Shiloh’s journey at BHCP started as a parent, where she was a Room Parent and Membership Chair. A Wisconsin native, Shiloh came to DC as a Congressional Staffer. A former Green Class teacher, Shiloh has been providing classroom support and leading our after-school Explorers program for the past two years, and is excited to share her passion for collaboration and creativity with the BHCP community.
Laura Weinhofer, Office Manager
Laura is a former BHCP parent and Board Secretary & Marketing Chair. She came to the US from Germany in 2017 and has a background in International Business and Marketing Communications. Laura loves to share the multi-cultural aspect of her experience and is delighted to stay connected with BHCP in her new role as our Office Manager.
